A women I met at the MetroRail/TriRail in Miami

She was 10 in the first picture. Her mother holds her in their old back yard. The imprint at the top says April 1968.

The second picture I took as I waited for my train. Today she shares the alley beside the MetroRail/TriRail transfer station in Miami with a friend. She has been living there for 5 years ever since her mother died.

My favorite feature of the 4×5 camera is that I can make a Polaroid and give it to the person right then and there. It turns photography from a slightly predatory profession into much more of a collaboration where the subject gets something in return.
