I wake up and start walking, other people are walking in every direction, we exchange “What’s up” or “Hows it going” and keep walking. I cross the bridge, or the train tracks, and keep walking until something stops me. Something always stops me, usually a person curious enough to ask what I am doing, or a scene that piques my curiosity enough that I take the opportunity to explain myself and somehow end up sitting on a porch, or apartment steps, or at the dominoes table. Then I just take pictures.
This is a rather selfish way to start an essay, no outside research or grand idea, but it is also one of the most truthful, I am in the middle of it with no preconceptions. My research is the information that I glean from chatting, my grand idea is the human condition. I’ll have to branch out later on so that all of my pictures aren’t of recreation but for the first week, this is working.
I like the approach, and I LOVE the backboard image, it’s magic. Kinda like the Silver Surfer traded in his surfboard for a backboard.. my apologies for the comic book reference, but anywho I like the way you are seeing.
